Honeymoon Advice Please - I am trying to decide if i want to go to Maui or to a Sandals Resort in St. Lucia.? |
Travel Info Hi. I am going to get married next summer and i am trying to decide where i want to go for my honeymoon. I can either go to Maui, Hawaii and stay at the Four Seasons Hotel. Or i can go to St. Lucia or Antigua and stay at an All - Inclusive Sandals Resort. They both sound good to me therefore i cant decide which one would be best. If you have been to a Sandals Resort please tell me how you liked the experience and which one of the resorts you stayed at. I really appreciate all of your advice!! Travel Tips I am a huge Four Seasons fan, having stayed at a couple of their properties. There are 2 things I can tell you about them: 1. You will be treated like royalty. The service at FS is some of the best I've ever experienced. I am forever spoiled and don't like to stay anywhere else if I can help it. I am taking my first Hawaii trip this year and am staying at FS Manele Bay on Lanai and poss the one on Maui as well. From what I have heard, Hawaii, and Maui especially, is one of the most beautiful places on earth. However, 2. You will spend like royalty. Their service comes with a price and everything at a FS property will be more $$ that you would expect. Drinks are $10, a dinner entree is $35, etc. I still feel its worth it, even when I choke down paying $6 for a basic PB and J for one of my kids. Everything gets charged to you room so you don't have to worry about carrying cash - one of the perks the all inclusive resorts advertise a lot. The resorts are very classy, well maintained and the bathroom in your hotel room will be to die for. I went to the Sandals in St Lucia for my honeymoon - it was 9 years ago so take that into consideration when reading my comments. The all-inclusive thing was great, you could hang out all day without worrying about how much $$ you were spending. There are lots of activies, especially stuff for couples and honeymooners who are 99% of their guests. Hubby and I joked that just about every female guest had the typical bridal french manicure. However it felt forced and a bit canned, like their ads look, or you might expect from a Disney resort. Everything from decor to the staff uniforms were bright splashy tropical colors, the "theme" restaurants were overally themed, etc. However, the island was beautiful, there was plenty to see and do and we did have a good time. If cost is a factor, Sandals would be your best bet since beyond your room rate the only costs would be souvaniers and maybe a tour or a special bottle of wine. But if its not, IMHO the Four Seasons would be the one for your once in a lifetime trip. Good Luck and Enjoy! Others I have never been on a sandles resort but I have been to St lucia. It is beutiful and I cant wait to go back Sandals caters to Honeymooner's but generally isn't always the best, some people rave about their experience while other's are negative, I think both choices are excellent and what ever you choose will be good, and hope that you don't have any service issues. =) hi, my wife and i got married at Sandals regency in St Lucia , and then returned for our one year anniversary to the Grande St lucian Sandals. Unless your staying for more than a week , and your on the west cost of USA.....st Lucia all the way!!! I can attest , Sandals is nice. You dont have to worry about additional expenses while on the resort and the food is good , drinks etc. I have nothing bad to say about the people in St Lucia at sandals or otherwise. Take the helicopter ride from the airport to the resort. Its only 125.00 per person 1 way ....but real worth the 250.00 because they fly past the "piton Mts" ,,,,awesome !!!! My choice is Four Seasons Hotel in Maui. Hawaii is incredible. Very high class hotel. You will love it. Have a fun honeymoon, no matter what you choose. Good luck. |
