Can anyone recommend a hotel in St. Martin?

Travel Info
My husband wants to go on vacation to St. Martin and I don't know anything about it. Can anyone recommend a good hotel? It's difficult to pick something off of the internet...I think that sometimes the pictures look good, but when you get to your destination...the hotel is not that great.

Travel Tips
You have two parts to that island.
St Maarten/St Martin. St Martin is the French side and St Maarten is the Dutch side. Both sides are very nice. The island is considered the gourmet capital of the Caribbean. Excellent food.

The French side of the island(St Martin) is known for not only good food but nude beaches. Orient Beach is the best known beach on the French side and you can go natural. Also very good high end shopping (duty free)

The Dutch side (St Maarten) is known for excellent duty free shopping, good beaches , casinos, clubs and more night life.

Their are many nice resorts. We stayed at the Royal Palm Beach Club in Simpson Bay. We liked it because it was close to all the good restaurants and beaches on the Dutch side. Also good resorts Pelican and Oyster Bay Beach on the dutch side.

On the French side, Grand Case Beach Cub is very popular.

Here are two sites that will give you loads of information.

many reviews and photos. Click on Caribbean than St. Maarten.

the people on this site really known St Maarten/St Martin very well.

You will love these two sides of the island. Rent a car(inexpensive) and explore both sides.

St. Maarten/St. Martin is a great vacation destination. I'd suggest you ask your travel agent (if you have a good one) for recommendations. There are some very good hotels, like the Sonesta and Grand Case. Others may be a good fit as well, but it all depends on what you're looking for.

I hope this helped, but feel free to contact me if you have more questions.
You can check out this accommodation. I personally know the owner, a very nice fellow and a very nice place to stay:

I just got back from a cruise last week and spent a few days in St. Martin. It seemed like the nicer hotels were around Maho Bay, Simpson Bay, Grand Case. Anything on the oceanfront is nice, of course. It depends on the price range you're looking for and your taste. It's really a beautiful place with lots to do and great shopping. I recommend getting a car to see it all and don't rely on the sketchy cab drivers to tell ya the good places to go.
