Has Anyone ever been on vacation in Haiti? If so How was it? |
Travel Info I recently went to Labadee Haiti on Vacation, and it was the most beautiful Island I have ever been to. It was nothing like people talked about here in America. the media is doing that country no justice. I think everyone should experience what i have eperienced in other to see what i'm talking about. I think that I have covered everything Others When you simply stay in a resort you don't see the country itself. You see what people want you to see. I have been to Haiti and I have daily contact with people from Haiti. I have seen with my own eyes the alarming poverty and need of the country. Perhaps in your beautiful resort you did not see how the land has been stripped of its vegetation. When you fly above Hispaniola you can see the contrast between the Dominican Republic, which is covered with foliage, and the bareness of Haiti. You were well fed and were not aware that there are children in Haiti who eat stones because their bodies crave minerals and they are short of food. More than half the population live on less than $1 a day and more than three quarters live on less than $2 a day. Many families rely on what they receive from relatives working aboad and many children receive their main nourishment via sponsorship. I am glad that you had a positive experience, but you saw only a resort and what was visible from its confines. You did not see the country itself. This is a pity, as to help Haiti people must be aware of the true picture and the great need. Hi yeah labadee is beautiful i used to go there every vacation but you should visit some other place like Citadelle,fort-jacques, moulin sur vent , those are beautiful too when i was in Haiti i used to go.
