Travel Tips
Wow, how do you pass up an opportunity to visit and work in switzerland. Your cost of living will be slightly higher, you will not find all the same foods as you have here, you will find apartment living to be smaller and more expensive, but all that aside, you can travel by rail to Italy, germany, france in hours. you see things others merely dream of. Unlike here the public transportstion system makes travel cheap and easy.
The swiss people will take you under their wing and make you feel welcome and happy, go , go ,go

The cost of living is extremely high compared to the US.I worked a year in Zurich and it will cost you 2500 chf ( 1800-2000 USD) for a decent appartment (80 m2+) , you buy meat in 100g portions costing around 3 to 4 chf , meaning a 1 kilo piece will cost between 30 to 40 chf. Even the local stuff like cheese is expensive and finally if you want a beer in a Bar its around 8 chf for a pint. So it is not a cheap place by all means. Redeeming features are the beautiful countryside and 30 minutes to the nearest ski slope in winter by Train. It is the centre of europe after all. The trains are brilliant as well and it is one of the safest places in the world to live with more police per capita than any other place in the world. The country also has a mixed cosmopolitan feel with lots of Europeans, Aussies, Kiwis and Americans, 20% are not swiss . SO if you can overlook the prices then Switzerland is a great place to live and work. Finally the wages are high and the taxes are pretty low with deductions being around 28% with all your pensions paid.
I agree with the above answers, but don't forget, it is all proportional
Cost of living higher than US but also salary is higher than US.
The average salary is almost double than the average salary in USA. And there is no such thing as hourly wage. You will be paid once a month.
Also here the kicker: you will receive the gross salary, let's say you are hired for $5,000/mos., that's what you will receive every month. Most likely you will be paid twice in December (13th month bonus), which will allow you to pay the taxes.

Don't worry, it is high cost for Americans (visiting) with the current weak dollar but Swiss workers are doing fine.

GO! GO! GO! Once a lifetime (you know it is extremely hard for a foreigner to be able to work in Switzerland, especially for someone coming from the US)

Lucky bastard !!!! (lmao)
