For those of you who have traveled the Mediterranean, do the bookstores have books in English?

If I wanted to buy an American book, would the bookstores there have what I wanted?

I live in Italy and there are many bookstores here that sell international books (especially in English). I am sure you could find most American books in these stores. Finding the bookshops themselves can be tricky.
Others
I lived in Spain and almost all of the bookstores had books in English. Your best bet is to try the bigger chains; El Corte Ingles, FNAC, etc.
