Has any one been from Budapest to Bucharest by boat before?

My Girlfriend and I are planning a holiday to Eastern Europe this summer, we are flying to Buda pest and leaving from Warsaw 2 weeks later. We plan to travel to warsaw via Romania by train, but I thought of starting on a boat on the Danube. Can any one tell me how feasable this would be, bearing in mind that we will be on quite a tight budget? Any experiances/advice about that part of the world welcome too!
