Still waiting for passport and was supposed to leave a week ago, anything I can do? |
Travel Info I applied almost three months ago and I called the passport agency about month and a half before departure wanting to pay the extra money to have it expedited so that I would be sure to have it. The ladie said that since I applied over 10 weeks before departure I would be fine and if its 14 days before departure and I still hadnt recieved it, I could just call and they would send it to me in 7 days. They assured me that they were doing everything possible to make sure nobody missed thier flights. Well its been a week now since I was supposed to leave and still have no passport. I just blew $580 on my flight through NWA and $70 on my bullet train ticket. If I dont get it soon I will have blown $300 on my eurail pass and $50 on a ryanair ticket. Is there anything I can do, I have called the agency a dozen times and they keep telling me theyre working on it. Also the closest regional passport center is booked10days out. Is there any way the passport agency can be held accountable? Travel Tips Call your congressman's office in Europe. Explain your situation as calmly and nicely as possible. If the assistant who takes your call likes you, they will contact the State Department on your behalf. They are supposed to help their constituents. And if they seem to be dragging their feet, contact the local paper and tv stations. Bad press tends to speed up reaction times. Others Nope - they are in the clear if you read the small print. |
