Looking for a cheap vacation!? |
Travel Info My boyfriend and I are looking at taking a vacation in the fall- preferrably Europe or Tropical. Talking about October-ish but are flexible. I am trying to get suggestions on what countries are cheap to travel to/within. I have lived in Norway and been to London but am not well traveled otherwise and am looking for suggestions. Have thought about Italy or Greece but seem to find conflicting info as to how cheap/expensive these countries are. Any suggestions out there??? Recommendations?? We are open to experience just about any country and would certainly appreciate it. :) Travel Tips You don't say where you are traveling from and that makes a world of a difference in "cheap". It sounds like you're a bit adventurous though. For the most part, traveling to the EU countries is not cheap right now. The dollar is not doing well over there. Even worse in Great Britain. While you can vacation cheaply it will take a lot more leg work than in the past. An alternative for European travel is going to the Eastern European countries. Consider Croatia, Hungary or even Bosnia. We're traveling to Bosnia this August and can't wait. I've included a link to my Yahoo trip planner which also includes a stop in Bavaria. If you'll be coming from America, then a tropical destination might be a little expensive for you, the tickets alone will damage your budget. Europe is also very expensive nowadays but since you're looking towards that area, why not try Turkey? They have so many beautiful destinations with beaches and sun and lots of places and nightclubs to party! Turkey has 2 out of the 7 Wonders of the World! Turkey is full of history and rich with culture that dates back thousands of years. Plus, it is so cheap to travel here, everything is inexpensive that the Europeans themselves come here for holiday. Search the website and I'm sure that you will be keen on coming here. :) www.tourismturkey.org why don't you choose Ohrid, Macedonia f.e? Greece and Italy are pretty expencieve: Well there are many beautiful cities, but still, my fav is Ohrid. I love that city. There鈥檚 so much to be seen there.. During the day you can go on any of the many beautiful beaches by the shore of the lake, do some shoping, sightseeing in the city or just sit in one of the many caf茅s in any of the narrow streets in the Old Town and enjoy. For all the young people, the nightlife is great and vibrant. The cafes work late at night, but there鈥檙e also so many nightclubs where you can carry on from there. For sightseeing, there鈥檙e enormous many old churches, my favourite ones are Plaoshnik, more than 15 centuries old, St. Jovan Caneo, St. Naum鈥?If you climb on the Samuil Fortress, just 5 min from the centre, you get amazing sight on the whole lake. The Lake is clean, one of the oldest ones in Europe, from 1980 protected by UNESCO as a place of world cultural and natural inheritance. Most of the lake鈥檚 plant and animal species are endemic, which also makes Ohrid unique. The most famous among these are two types of Ohrid Trout. You should try them prepared on the traditional way. Mmmmm鈥?br /> Ohrid is also known as the site of the first Slavic university run by St. Clement and St. Naum at the end of the 9th century. Ohrid, also, used to be the centre of the orthodox Christianity in the whole region. There鈥檚 so much history there鈥? And DO NOT miss a boat trip on the lake, especially at night, believe me one of a kind experience!! I must not forget to mention the hospitability of the people there. In the last few years Ohrid is soooo popular among foreign tourists, especially Greeks, Dutchmen, Bulgarians, Serbians etc. So, check it out and have fun!!! p.s. And, did I say it's cheap?! ;o) www.exploringmacedonia.com wwww.mymacedonia.net www.macedonia.org faq.macedonia.org |
