What's It Like Now in Uzhgorod, Ukraine?

Travel Info
In 1994 I spent 3 weeks in Uzhgorod, Ukraine as an exchange student from the United States. Those 3 weeks had a profound impact on my life and now I am wondering how things are going for the people of Uzhgorod? I was only 16 years old and Ukraine was only 3 years into its new found independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The buses were not running, the infrastructure was failing, and the economy was poor. I remember lines miles long at the Hungary/Ukraine border attempting to get back in with basic necessities that could not be found in Ukraine at that time (or at least not easily).

If anyone is from this area and can let me know how things are, I would appreciate it!

Travel Tips
13 years later, things are better but not grand. The buses run and basic necessities are plentiful, but the infrastructure and economy is still poor. Capitalism has taken hold, but it is still controlled by the old Soviet style forms of "success by who you know and pay".
