Is it possible to travel within Europe with photo id (driving license) instead of a passport?

Travel Tips
i have driven from England to Germany, via france, Belguim and Holland, the only people that asked for my british passport, was when i checked in at Dover for the Ferry, and when i arrived at Calais. i drove across the broader from France to Belguim, Belguim to Holland and Holland to Germany, i was never stopped by anyone at the Broader. but you will need a passport to check in for the ferry or shuttle in England, plus you will need a passport to get back into the UK

No. Every border guard will ask for a passport, even if they don't check them too closely!! They will still need to see a passport.
not sure, maybe be road, eg if you are driving from one country to another through border control, however i doubt it on planes. my mum had to take a passport when she flew from bristol to newcastle even though theyre both in UK
you need a passport if u are american to enter the country u choose and also to re enter the states.
the only place that I know this is true is between the UK and ireland. You only need a photo id to travel between these countries, everywhere else requires a passport.
i think that you need both a passport and a photo id...
As for showing a Passport to travel between Schengen countries, The laws were changed a few months ago and the Carriers and customs officers
can require a Passport instead of an ID card to go thru security or board a flight. They are doing this for xtra security and to catch Illegal Immigrants.
So don't expect your Old DB card, drivers license or Credit card to get you thru any more
and
You need a valid passport to enter any European country and to re-enter your own.
i hope this is what you are looking for
It seems Britain is the odd one out as regards passport checks. When I went to the continent last year I had to show my passport when going from the UK to France and returning from France to the UK, but didn't have to show any documents when going from France to Spain, Spain to Andorra, or Andorra to France.
