Are there any international airports in Southern France? Preferably near the French Riviera...? |
Travel Info im looking to fly out from Kennedy or Newark International Travel Tips I did some hunting around and found that the best routes are out of Newark to Nice which is a very short train ride to the French Riviera. Others you can fly into Nice, or Marseille, but I think it would be difficult to get direct flight, you would probably have to go through London or Paris I could only find one direct flight out of the USA into Nice. You can fly directly into Nice from JFK on Delta. Delta flight leaves at 7pm out of JFK, arrives in Nice about 9 hours later (you can look it up on the Delta website www.delta.com). Only downside... it appears to be VERY expensive; it's a lot cheaper if you connect somewhere in Europe (Paris or London appear to be the best choices), or there's a non stop from Montreal on some strange (probably charter) airline I've never heard of. For airlines other than Delta, check out the Nice airport website http://www.nice.aeroport.fr/include/defa... One other alternative you might try - it's possible that it's cheaper to fly Alitalia directly from NY into Milan and take the train back to South of France - the train from Milan Centrale takes 4 hours and costs between $22-$64 depending on which class and whether you want the ticket to be cancellable, and you should be able to connect to it from the train in airport. By the way, this is also a very scenic train ride - you ride right up the coast through Monte Carlo and across the border through Beaulieu sur Mer etc. (By contrast, the TGV from Paris to Nice takes 5 hours and costs between $105-$250, but you could look at this too as an alternative) |
