Require details on new laws on entering spain for holiday? |
Travel Info Require details on new laws on entering spain for holiday? Travel Tips They are introducing the same system as you have to fill in when you visit the US, a bit of sour grapes if you ask me, but basically you need to give them your passport number when it was issued when it expires and your date of birth. Just to add to the fun of flying!! Others As far as i know it is now a requirement that Spain receive an API (advanced passenger information) for everyone entering the country. The details they want are your full name, date of birth and your passport number, this will be obtained either at the check in desk at the airport or the ailrline company you are travelling with will email you for the information in advance Millions of tourists heading to Spain this summer face long delays and disruptions after the country's government decided to implement strict new security measures. From June 13th, people entering Spain will be required to provide detailed personal information, such as full name, nationality, date of birth and passport number. The move is part of a Europe-wide initiative to standardise immigration procedures, but critics say that Spain has rushed the measures in as the country does not have to introduced them for another year. Recently, a spokesperson from easyJet told the Times that the company was "aware of the change in requirements and is working with the Spanish authorities to achieve compliance as soon as possible." Some companies, such as British Airways are encouraging passengers to enter their data on the airline's website before flying to cut down on delays. However, the Scotsman reports that the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) said the move by the Spanish authorities was "very badly timed". The ABTA spokesperson told the paper: "We would advise customers where possible to input their information online and where that is not possible to check in earlier." You can contact your airline previous to flying to provide these details, they are also requesting that you get to the airport 2 hours before the flight - as was the minimum time years ago for European flights. I fly to Spain on 4th July - as I live there and I have given my details to the airline Flybe already http://www.holidayextras.co.uk/news/dest... This is from the Real Holiday reports.Com newsletter. Travelling to Spain, be aware of new regulations The Spanish government have recently announced administrative changes which will require people travelling from the UK to fill in a document outlining your date of birth, passport number and name. Failure to provide such information could lead to you not being allowed to board your flight. The advanced passenger information (API) system is to be introduced to all passengers from 19th June 2007. Both Easyjet & BA have already amended their booking in systems to enable the traveller to provide the information on line, thereby saving time at the check-in. The general advice prior to taking a flight to Spain or it's islands is to: Contact your tour operator or flight provider for the latest information If possible, complete all information prior to arrival at the airport Arrive at the airport early to minimise any delays.
