I am traveling with my sons, aged 15 & 17 to Amsterdam Aug. 1, we need a safe, cheap place to stay, any advice |
Travel Info We will be in europe for one month; after Amsterdam we will go to Prague then Austria. We want to attend a rock music festival in Salzburg but how do I get tickets? My boys are big and independent for their ages, lots of travel experience, not fussy, but I am not as healthy or quick as them and would like to stay with them in a room, but know that won't happen in a hostel. Any suggestions? Travel Tips When booking a hostel, or contacting before booking, tell you are a family of 3, and want to stay in the same room. Many hostels in Europe have several family rooms and more and more are getting 4 bed rooms as standard room-size. Some of the hostels have mixed dorms as well, so you can stay with the boys even in a dorm. But if three of you travel together staying in an hotel might not cost more, and can even cost less than three in a hostel, as the hostels in the Netherlands are not cheap and are competing in the hotel market rather than the hostel market. Others My friend i have been to prague and amsterdam and to tell you the truth the best place i ever stayed in Amsterdam is the Crowne Plaza. Here is the location. N.Z. VOORBURGWAL 5, Amsterdam, 1012 RC it is pretty good in european standars and great location. Amsterdam is a safe city and you wil see that the people aren't all a bunch of drug addicts like most americans think. If anything stay away from the red light district past 20:00 ok. In prague i ended up staying in a bad hotel so please be more careful. Look for anything in prague 3 or 5. Those are the best locations in that city. Safe and clean. (Prague is divided by numbers) I am from spain and the first hotel i stayed in the usa i went crazy about the size. Remember that the rooms are smaller in Europe. Check out the stayokay hostel in the vondelpark. I heard it is nice (i live in amsterdam). They also have rooms for 2 or 4, so you could share a room alltogether. The Vondelpark is a nice green park, great for walks, picnics, people watching, right in the city centre (walking distance to the musea, the shopping district etc). www.stayokay.com |
