Gift suggestions for friend travelling to France on exchange?

Travel Info
My friend will be leaving Australia for France soon. She is fluent in french so won't need phrase books. I would like to get her something practical that she would definietely use and appreciate.

Travel Tips
You could go to the bank and get her some Francs. Money is never the wrong choice.
Others
No gift is greater than words of friendship
photo book
nice pair of gloves
a scarf
a shoulder bag
At bookshops I have seen little guides that tell you the do's and don'ts of travelling to foreign countries (i.e., if a Chinese tourist came to America, he may or may not know that sticking up your middle finger is a rude gesture). This type of thing is very important, as your friend will not want to offend anybody...Unless she already knows French "etiquette"?
Hope she has a great time.

Maybe a passport holder or a wallet to keep her money in. That way everytime she opens it, she'll think of you
An extra memory stick or some film for her camera, depending on what kind of camera she has. Both are small and lightweight, so won't take up too much space or weight allowance. It's terrible when you miss out on a great photo opportunity just because you've run out of memory or film!
