Driving Autobahn near Stuttgart?

Travel Info
I am planning to rent a BMW in Stuttgart to drive in scenic areas near Stuttgart Germany (one whole day to drive around and sight see). Any suggested routes on autobahn (near Stuttgart) where I can drive top speed with less traffic? Any suggested scenic routes to see beautiful areas or castles?

Travel Tips
Scenic routes: try sections of the 'Romantische Strasse' or the 'Burgenstrasse' https://www.romantischestrasse.de/?lang=... and http://www.burgenstrasse.de/?lang=uk...
Look at hte links to see what you can along each route. You won't be able to cover either route completely in one day but just sections of them are awesome and you have to drive first on the autobahn to get there.
Most german autobahns actually do have a speed limit and it is strictly enforced, so be careful. No speed limit exist on Autobahn in areas that are more rural, so you will have to drive awhile from stuttgart to get ther, either of the autobahns that bypass stuttgart will eventually have sections that have no speed limit. Sorry but there are no autobahns close to stuttgart with less traffic, unless you are driving at night. you definitelly want to stay away from the A5 going to Karlsruhe, teribble traffic there. The A5 toward Munich and the A81 (north/south) both have fairly scenic stretches but will have lots of traffic especially around rush hour.

One note about driving in Germany. Driving fast on the Autobahn works because everybody stricts to the rules and they are strictly enforced. Do NOT pass on the right, stay the the right most lane to make room for faster traffic unless there is someone slower in the right lane. And take it slow initially, it takes a little to get used to to have people drive passt you at 250 km/h so before merging into faster traffic make sure you accuratelly judge their speed. Even if there is not speed limit, the 'suggested' speed limit is 130 km/h if you are in an accident and you were driving faster you automatically are considered partially responsible even if you did not cause it.
And always drive the speed limit and never run a red light (there is no turning right on red!!). You won't loose your US liscence for a traffic violation in Germany but you will have to pay for it. Source(s): Grew up close to Stuttgart
Other Travel Tips
Depends how far you want to go from Stuttgart. But there's a gorgeous scenic route called the Schwarzwaldhochstra脽e that starts about an hour from Stuttgart, in Baden-Baden. It's not a road you go on for speed but for the view.

I'm afraid I only have links in German, but I'm sure it's in the Lonely Planet or Rough Guide.

Drive to Munich (muenchen) or Konstanz, The autobahn is quite congested at times but worth a look. Scenic routes are the Black Forest. Get a map, you will need it to see the best places. Good Luck.
