Are backpackers low class? |
Travel Info Or just ordinary students on a budget? Travel Tips Backpackers are people who travel on a budget, generally using a backpack to fit their things in for greater mobility. Because backpacks are smaller, they don't always fit very many changes of clothes--which means a backpacker's wardrobe might not be as flashy when on the road as it might be when they are at home. Most backpackers go for practical clothing, just as the backpack is a more practical piece of luggage. Because budgets don't allow for high-class accommodation, "backpacker hangouts" can be low-class, but aren't necessarily. Some backpackers are students, a lot of them are not. As for low class...talk to a few and you'll see most of them are highly educated, widely traveled, adventurous people with a lot of life skills and good stories. I wouldn't say that's low class. Others who the hell are you? Class is not measured monitarily in my opinion. To be a backpacker you just use a backpack instead of other kinds of luggage. The most common backpackers are 20-30's although I have seen backpackers in hostels in their mid 50's. Great book for the backpacker heading to europe: Europe on a Shoestring by Lonely Planet. www.LonelyPlanet.com No, backpackers aren't low class, whoever said that is a bit ignorant. Many artists, writers, actors, etc were 'backpackers' at one time or another. Also, you don't need money for happiness, and it is a great way to acquire knowledge and culture. One great person who was once a backpacker was Douglas Adams, the author of the aptly named Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy ( aptly named because there are 5 books in the trilogy, yes you did read that correctly). |
