Anyone been to croatia? |
Travel Info i am going there this summer but i don't no what to exspict from there anyone been there before if so TELL ME! Travel Tips Croatia is a beautiful country with rich history and culture. It's a tourist country, and the people are friendly and helpful to the visitors, and almost everyone under 50 y. speaks English, while many speak German or Italian. The high tourist season starts in June and ends with August. It's also the hottest part of the year (ca. 25-30 deg.C), but don't be suprised by occasional summer thunderstorm (especially on the coast). The summer climatically ends around the 15th August; after that date you can expect slightly cooler, pleasant weather (of course, it varies with location). Continental part can get equally hot during high season, but usually less so. I don't know where you're going to, but the food is generally delicious, as well as local wines and spirits (beware of those if you wish to remember the evening out). I'd recommend you ask in smaller, family-held restaurants for local dishes. And don't miss sitting in a caffee in the morning, watching the sea waves and the people go by. Buying breakfast pastry in one of many bakeries and eating it on a morning stroll is a perfectly normal thing to do. Livey night life can be found in bigger cities as well as near larger tourist resorts/hotels/camps. There are also many, many caffees of all sizes, pubs/bars, etc. Make sure you visit at least some natural attraction, such as a National or a Nature Park. There are quite a few of them, so wherever you are situated, you should be able to find guided excursion to such areas. If you like nature-sightseeing, I suggest Nat. Park Paklenica, NP Krka and Nat. Park Kornati. Local transportation is pretty good, although you should very carefully check timetables for buses or trains. Sometimes, if you're with a group of people, it's cheaper and more comfortable to hire a bigger taxi (minivan) and share the price of a trip to another town, than taking a bus. If you're by car, beware of big cities and rush hours, Fridays and weekends on the coastal "highway" (Magistrala) - very, very crowded. Ferries or catamarans can take you to the islands, but there are often locals offering their taxi-boat services, too (you'll find them in marinas/town ports). I could go on like this for a long time ;) , so if you need some more info, don't hesitate to e-mail me. Other Travel Tips yup. lovely!! hey hey.croatia is an awesome place to see...depends on how much time you plan on spending there.definitly stick to the coast (istria has some great places you can visit, also the world's smallest town), all along the southern croatia (islands...if you're in a party mood, go to island PAG). croatia can get pretty crowded during the summer, so take your time and plan your travelling wisely (avoid travelling during the weekend and peak hours). other than that, people are really friendly, of course depending on your attitude...enjoy croatia:) my family's croatian. croatia is one of the best places i've ever been to make sure you go to split and dubrovnik Yeah... Ive been there.I live there, actually :) I think that its a really beautiful country. The people are generally really nice and helpful, and something that I love about Croatia - almost everyone speaks English! Also, many people speak Italian (especially on the coast) and German. I think youll find the prices ok. Avoid shopping in the city centres and try t find some smaller supermarkets that are not so expensive (thats usually not so hard to do). There are plenty of interesting historical sights, but most towns also have a lively night-life (see Novalja, Pag). If you have any more questions, feel free to e-mail me. Hope this helped, Ivana |
