Living in Norway?

Travel Info
What is it like living in Norway?
Are people friendly, conservative, etc?
Are they sympathetic to social causes?

Travel Tips
Very high cost of living and taxation(s).
Very sympathetic to social causes. They easily collect $20 million in Sunday afternoon "red kettle" drives for Save the Children (this in a country of less than 5 million people).
Natural beauty of water and mountains, forests and valleys, clean environment, lots of peace and quiet away from cities.
Orderly, mostly well-behaved.
Hard for an outsider to get in -- in a lot of ways.
Language is a necessity. Source(s): used to live there
Other Travel Tips
It has been voted best place to live in, for the 4th year in a row.
people follow the rules.
people are very respectful to each other
people are polite, but do not partake in chit chat with strangers.
they are hard working. and expect everyone else to be hard working
Norway is a lovely country with not so many people living there.
It is quite difficult for a foreigner to settle in as the Norwegians as quite cold.. they will never start a conversation, though they would answer ur questions.
They are not conservative at all!! they love to party and drink but only in the weekends. U can expect to see drunk Norwegians at any time during the weekend.

They are sympathetic to social causes - Stavanger used to be a missionary city - they were sending missionaries all over the world.

Be prepared for quite an adventure and dont forget to be flexible ocne you're there!!!! thigns are very different!
I married a man from Norway and I have found the language IS a necessity. If you are a refugee or if you have married someone from Norway they will pay for the language classes but it took a long time to get my person number which is necessary to have if you want to do anything (get a cell phone, open a bank account, rent a home, etc). Norwegians are very conservative but people who live in the largest cities like Oslo, Bergen, Troms酶, etc, are pretty metropolitan. If you are not white it is much more difficult to fit in. People will be polite but not much more. They are probably too sympathetic to social causes and send billions in taxpayer money abroad. Overall, people who live in Norway will tell you that it's a great place to live.
