Do you rely on Rick Steves guides?

Travel Tips
Yes.

His guides are very accurate and helpful. He knows the American traveler's habits and doesn't miss a thing, especially on saving money!

His website offers tour packages that are featured on his PBS shows and you can also get the DVDs of the shows. Source(s): http://www.ricksteves.com/
Other Travel Tips
No, I prefer Lonely Planet and the German series' "Know-How" and "Michael M眉ller". They have better tips on budget options.
Y E S!! His guides are accurate and up to date.
AAA is also excellent!!
Absolutely. From how to request a hotel, to how to pack, to which restaurants to go to and what to avoid - Rick is NEVER wrong.

My wife and I spent 12 days in Italy last fall, carrying only backpacks and travelling the Rick way - and it was fabulous.

So much better than the people we saw dragging oversized overstuffed bags through the cities to get to overpriced hotels.
He is so candid on what you must see and what you can skip. Also for lodging his recommendations are spot on. I never go anywhere in europe without his guidebooks.
He's very good are are the Lonely Planet ones.
