How do Bed and Breakfast functionate? |
Travel Info Does the owner stay with you in the house? Do you have your own private room? etc. etc. Are they as cheap as hostels? Travel Tips B&B's are almost always inhabited by the owner and are always a more personable choice than a hotel. I love them for smaller cities in europe. For a large city like a Paris or Amsterdam you will definitely want to go with a hostel or hotel because a real B&B probably wont be an option in a major population center. If I have a good selection of b&bs and hostels to choose from I will probably do the b&b thing to have a room to myself for a night or two and then hostel it the rest of the time for financial reasons. Others Bed&Breakfasts are more expensive than hostels, especially for solo travellers, but they are more readily available. They are what their name says: You buy a bed and a breakfast. Beds are in private rooms for your use, all else depends upon the place. The owner might live in the house and rent out only a room of it or the whole house can be a B&B with several rooms and the owner lives elsewhere. Toilets and showers can be shared or private, it all depends upon the place. B&B's are very good value for couples wanting their privacy or small families with older children. |
