Is it legal for someone in Sweden to ship canned Herring to a location outside of Sweden? |
Travel Info Is it legal for someone in Sweden to ship canned Herring to a location outside of Sweden? Travel Tips Well, i worked at the post office of sweden for a couple of years and i'll tell you: that depends on where it is to be sent. Some countries have this rule that you can not seend food into their country with normal post. I give some examples: USA: No grocery are allowed to be send with post packade or DPD. Expetion for letters* though. In a "letter" you can send grocery like chockolate for example. UK: You can send grocery. CANADA: You can send grocery. well, it really depends on what country it is ment to go to. That i dont understand why someone should want cannedd herring is another thing ;) Dont forget that it need to be packed very good, it a can get hit during the drip and you see the damage, it is not very good to eat what is inside. I also worked at a grocery store, and we where not allowed to sell cannes that have been taking hits, because it could be bad for you. Good luck! * Something that is below 2 kilos can be sent as a letter, with this, you can be smart and "go around" the rule, if it is to usa it is to be sent. Others thats a really good question but unfortunately i dont know the answer. really sorry bout that. That depends on where you're shipping it to (it's their rules that matter, not Swedish law) And probably, if it's well packed, and in factory sealed containers. I've sent bottled and canne foods overseas before, and received them in Sweden from other countries too. So long as it's not surstr枚mming, I can't imagine anywhere letting that stuff in other than by accident :) Just wanted to tell you I appriciate your answer. |
