Europe help? |
Travel Info im going to europe and i was wondering if american appliances work there, such as hair dryers and straightners Travel Tips no you have to buy an adapter like this one http://www.radioshack.com/sm-foreign-ada... im going to europe in a few months and i need to buy this. the outlets in europe are a different shape then the ones in the US. an adapter is easy to find and its not expensive at all. plus they are really small you just plug in you appliance. Have fun in europe! Others They don't, as European plugs are differently shaped, and also run on a higher voltage. Some American appliances, like hairdryers, are designed for travel use, and have a little notch or something that can be switched to European voltage. However, you would still need a little device to convert the shape of the plug (it's basically a little square that your appliance plugs into, with European style prongs on the other end that fit into their outlets), and these are easy to find. There are several adapters types for Europe, England has a different one than France for example. So you should buy a universal adapter, which you can find at Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. There is a second difference however. Their current is at 220 DC whereas American current runs at 110 AC. Most hotel bathrooms have an 110 AC plugs available, so for hair appliances you shouldn't have a problem. You can also use anything that has an adapter such as a battery charger, computer laptop etc. They run on both currents. Many trips to Europe nope....go to target or walmart in the travel and luggage section and u can pick of power plug converters...theycome in a group with all countries included with different plugs....its not expensive at all. |
