pls can anyone tell me what are the advantages of being a member cos I don't see nothing positive or because we are such a small island in the middle of the meditterenean.

where are you from..?? Malta perhaps..??
you know it's a big question in Norway as well ..most Norwegians don't want to become part of the common market either..so far i think they are much better off..

What about impact on European politics? In 2017 Malta will hold the presidency of the Council - even though it is just a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean (and a very beautiful one, if I may say so).
Positive effects on economy are also important (that will come with Euro too - you'll see in 2008).

And let's link those two reasons together: in 2017 you will hold the Presidency and therefore the media will talk about you (and hopefully about successes you'll make). People around the world will become aware of a small island and will want to visit it. That will boost tourism and economy.

Was that enough to convince you that the EU isn't just that bad? :) If not, do contact me and I'll try to persuade you that it is a great thing (under certain presumptions).
