Travel Info do people in latvia still speak mostly latvian or is it mostly russian now? Travel Tips Latvians speak mostly their language, and in the Baltic countries there is much resentment towards the Russians. I was a bit surprised to learn this, but I guess it shouldn't be surprising. After all it wasn't so long ago that they were struggling to be free of the Russian (or Soviet) occupation, and from what I've seen they felt very oppressed during the occupation.
