Backpack Europe?

Travel Info
Any tips for backpacking Europe? It's going to be me and 3 other of my friends. We're all girls, so obviously we want to make sure we're safe at all times as much as possible. Most of all, we just want to have fun though! Any advice on backpacking Europe would be appreciated!

Travel Tips
I lived in Luxembourg for 6 months when I was 20 and travelled all over the place, usually with one or two other people. It's fairly safe, as long as you're smart. We stayed in hostels - you can check them out on hostels.com or hostelz.com and see recommendations/reviews of each place.

Always keep you passport, money, credit cards in the money belt around your waist or under your shirt - it's not very attractive, but having this stuff stolen is a nightmare. Avoid carrying a purse, they are easily stolen. Instead keep important stuff on you and lock everything else up at the hostel.

Don't get drunk - it makes you an easy target. Also be aware of your surroundings, notice people who you see a few times and may be following you. All and all, Europe is just as safe as anywhere in the US. Have a great time!
Others
Well, it depends on how you plan to get around. If you are going to have a youthrail pass that is one thing, if you plan to hitchike that is another.

You don't give enough information for me to help you... and I've been there and do it... but I had a plan... and you haven't told me what your plan is... just wanting to have fun and be safe at all times is hardly enough for me to answer your question
Don't bring a lot of luggage. Travelling in pairs is cool, but four is pushing it. Hostels are good. It's been said before, but worth repeating: don't get drunk. Carry only enough cash for a day or two on you at any time. Use a mix of credit cards, cash, and travellers cheques. Europe is safer than the US in so many ways, but remember that you'll be out of your culture. Have fun.
Lived and travelled in many European countries.
Bring half of what you think you will need, otherwise you will wish your pack got stolen LOL! Budget for laundromats.
Be alert in crowds, DO NOT leave purses on the bar or table or chair or they could be stolen. Just like any city at home.
Don't let your friends go off alone with cute Germans (or any other nationality) as nice as they may seem.
Get a Eurailpass.
Most important, have fun, and keep a journal, even if you just write a couple words about what made you laugh that day and the people you met. 10 years form now you will love looking back at it.
