Where do I go to exchange US dollars to Euros? |
Travel Info I'm planning to leave for Europe in about a week and a half. But where do I exchange my USD for Euros? I've heard that credit unions or FedX does this service. Travel Tips Airports, European McDonalds (seriously) I don't know about credit unions or FedEx. Note in response to the people recommending ATMs: If you pay attention to the signs on ATMs in Europe, you will see that they usually charge around 2-3% of your withdrawal as a fee. If you take out 200 Euro, you could potentially pay 6 Euro (or even more) as a fee. Airports usually have the worst exhange rates, I agree. Remember you can use check cards with a visa logo some places. But European credit / check cards usually don't have the magnetic stripe, they usually have the gold smart card chip. Others the bank Hate to sound like a smart-a.ss, but... a nearby currency exchange...? It is easiest to do at the currency exchange booth at the airport. When I went to Europe last summer, I just used my ATM card when I got there, and it issued Euros. It is all pretty simple. Using the card also means that you are not carrying cash around, and the machines work as well and as easily as they do here. Have a great time! When I went to Germany I was able to do it at their airport. I was just a tiny drop more expensive than looking for an exchange on the street, but it was well worth it. an airport most airports also offer currency exchange services as well |
