What do you think about living in Europe?

Travel Info
My husband and I currently live in Utah, and in the next five years want to move.

we've considered Europe.. becasue there are a lot of opportunities for work for him (he does live concert audio).

What are the pros and cons of Europe in general, and specific countries even?

And what is the market like for massage therapists? (thats what i do for a living)

Travel Tips
Hey there Pookie Poo!

I lived in Europe for over a year while I was studying and found it to be a great experience 鈥?you should do it, but you will have to do the research first!

-Look up the county from the CIA website, there you will see what the economy is like, what the main religion is, what the life expectancy is, population and statistics.
-Then start reading about the European Union. What the laws are, how to start a business, etc.
-Pick a county then start researching about it online. Over your research you will eventually be able to pinpoint a location within the country of where you might want to live.
-Get a passport from the post office, and find out if you need a visa, to live there. If you say the word 'Work" or "live' at the border and you don鈥檛 have a visa you will be totally screwed (deported) Start slow.
-Learn the language. You wont get too far throwing English around, and you have an American accent, so as soon as you say something they know where you came from and be sure your in an area where they are West friendly.
-Save your cash! Europe is expensive. Your little dollar is worth about 70cents and in England even less! A 2 bed 1 bath apartment in Germany with out air conditioning is about 1500 Euros or $1950 a month. Gas is about $3 a liter or $12 a gallon.

Now, I'm trying to be careful here. Massage Therapy is a profession, like a doctor 鈥搆inda, in Europe so first check if your license is even valid. And you have to be really careful with this because prostitution is a legal profession and acceptable in Europe. This is something that you don鈥檛 want to be confused with.

Now you have a lot of work to do, so get started. Living is Europe is great! Especially if you and your husband are willing to backpack for a while. Learn the language, the culture, use the subways and busses to get around and have fun doing it! Bring a camera and have a journal. Good luck!
Others
I imagine, and not to be a jerk, that the attitude towards Americans are not as pleasant as we hope they would be in foreign countries.

With that aside, I think Europe has the most attractive scenery of all the continents.
Been there, done that. I can take it or leave it. Many pluses and minuses. Depends on your life style. ~
Apart from the language barrier issues and the weather, Europe is a great place to live. You will need to find out about work permits and whether your qualifications are recognised overseas.
Its the best place to live on Earth. Easily.

And people are smart enough to know the difference between you and your political leaders.
I think it's o.k., but some things I don't like about living in Europe:
- Very high taxes. You are obliged to pay--even as a foreign worker.
- High cost of living.
- Long dark wet winters with limited daylight hours.
Just a reality check.
