Albania is Europe's very own 3rd world country, conveniently located right in its own backyard. Basically, Enver Hoxha ran the place as a communist country after WWII, and ran it he did, into the ground. Everyone there would like you to spend your American dollars there instead of somewhere that doesn't need them. Others We loved Albena but it wasn't any more expensive than any of the other Bulgarian destinations. And once you are there, it could never be described as expensive anywhere! Food, drink, gifts, etc, all are very reasonable. It was also incredibly clean. Enjoy, whichever resort you go. To be honest with you, I feel that the nicest place to visit in Bulgaria is either the Balkan Mountains/Pirin Mountains (spring/summer for walking, autumn/winter for skiing), or Sunny Beach/Golden Sands (summer/autumn for sun breaks) I personally found that THE BEST place to visit was the Rila Monastry area in the Rila Mountains, loads of activities-sun, ski, walking, trecks etc. try and look in your nearest travel agents or do a quick and simple search on the internet/google. www.mytravel.com www.thomascook.co.uk bob once went to the great country bulgaria, it took a full 20 minuites to find it. and she walked all the way there. she went to the "the country bulgaria all you can eat cafe" and said the dinners were great. |
