Would it be physically possible to drive from Western Europe eg. France all the way to Shanghai? |
Travel Info It seems possible if you look at a map just wondering if anyone knows for sure. Or south Africa to Norway? Travel Tips Yes, both routes are possible but you just have to be alert to which parts you should avoid due to conflict and have insurance that covers you in some parts. You should probably have a car that is easily serviceable in different countries or stock up on likely parts you might need. From Europe, you should probably go thru Russia/Central Asia to China, avoiding Mideast because you can't get thru Iraq and Afghanistan these days. For South Africa to Norway, drive up to Morrocco through whichever countries attract you most and cross into Spain (West Route) or make your way up to Cairo (East Route) and go thru Jordan/Turkey/Greece/Italy to get to France. That's probably a longer route. There's a great book "For Love and a Beetle" about a couple that made the Europe-Asia trip in their VW beetle when they got married and later repeated the trip when they retired with the same WV. Nick Danziger also went from Europe to Asia (primarily via Afghanistan in the 80s) hitching but also a good classic: Danziger's Travels (voted one of the best travelogues of all times). Source(s): I know some people who've driven these routes or similar ones. Other Travel Tips Yes, you can drive all the way to China. Marco Polo did it :) |
