Where should I visit in Slovakia?? |
Travel Info Going there next week from Hungary for a night or two. Going with my parents. They don't like to do active stuff, but I would love to be able to see the mountains. Somewhere not so far from Bratislava by train Travel Tips unfortunately the mountains around bratislava are not that great. the most popular mountains in slovakia are high tatras "vysoke tatry" roughly located north of the towns of liptovsky mikulas and poprad. south of these towns are low tatras "nizke tatry", also very beautiful, great for hike tours. liptovsky mikulas is about 3 hours from bratislava, poprad about 4. "rohace" around the town of "dolny kubin" offer some spectacular hikes as well. it will take you about 4 hours to get there. there are some beautiful mountains closer as well and you might actually like them better because the areas are not so touristy. i'd recommend "mala fatra" or "velka fatra", or any other mountain range around the city of zilina (about 2 hours north of b'lava). "male karpaty" are close to b'lava and suitable for a 1 day trip. i'd recommend taking the train to "pezinok" of "modra" and take it from there. plan your trip before you set off if possible, research the information. both towns are about 30-45 min from b'lava.
