Can I exchange Italian Lire into Euros from any countries outside Italy? |
Travel Info Can I exchange Italian Lire into Euros from any countries outside Italy? Travel Tips You can change Italian lira (bills only, not coins) in Banca D'Italia (Italian Central Bank) only, as said above, but only till 2012. Source(s): I live in Italy Other Travel Tips sounds very very unlikely to me, except in a museum. Don't think even the Italian banks are obliged to take them any more. That was all a LOONG time ago. la vecchia lira is dead and buried.. you'll not get them changed anywhere now.. it's been the euro for 4 years i think how many lire do you have..? if you could change them a rough guide is 2000 lire is 1 euro i don't reli no but ask da post office, theyll no 4 sure Lire? There are very few in existence now. Private collections and museums. The rest all up in smoke. These questions tend to be for money of a dubious past! You'll probably have to take it up with the Italian Central Bank, or one of its branches. To the best of my knowledge, they will exchange Lire indefinitely into Euros. At least here in Austria they do with Schillings. |
