I am doing a 3mo langschool in spain and want to travel around afterwards. anyway around getting a visa? |
Travel Info I have been in the UK for 2 weeks and can't get to a spanish consulate in the US to apply for a visa. I thought I could travel to other european countries as long as I left Spain after 90 days. Then I found out about the schengen agreement and was disapointed to learn that I have to leave the Euro zone. Is there anyway to continue travel to other countries as a tourist without a visa?? Travel Tips What is your nationality? As a US-citizen, you got certain privileges, because you are a "positive state" citizen. In Germany for example, you could apply for a residency and work permit directly in Germany without going through the German embassy in the US. Maybe Spain has a similar rule? Your best bet is to contact the Spanish embassy in the UK and inform them that you intend to stay in Spain for 6 months for a language course and thus need a residency permit (visa type: Spanish C+D Schengen or Spanish D). They should be able to advise you where you can or must apply for it - in the USA, the UK or Spain. You should be able to apply in London for your student/long-term residency visa on the grounds that you are currently in London. If this doesn't work, have somebody else in the USA submit the visa forms at the Spanish consulate nearest to your US residency. And no, there is no way for you around a Spanish visa/residency permit if you want to travel around the Schengen countries afterwards. If you cannot get a visa in time, you'll need to restrict your travels to Marocco, Ireland, the UK, Switzerland and Eastern Europe. http://www.maec.es/consulados/londres/en... http://www.maec.es/consulados/londres/en...
