How can i get internet coverage in Europe for travelling? |
Travel Info I'm travelling to Europe for a few months and need internet access pretty much everywhere i go, does anyone know if there is a service i can get that will have converage all over? Travel Tips Internet cafes are popular in Europe, especially in big cities. But Internet coverage depends on the area that you're in. It's just like it is in the states. You can't just get on a train or drive down a road and use the Internet. The area has to be wired for it. Invest in a cheap laptop with wireless capability so you can get hotspots and keep a look out for net cafes. Have fun! Others Try www.aol.com as your Internet provider. Note there is a 60-day delay between when you sign up for AOL and when you can use it overseas. They have dial-up access in lots of countries: http://intlaccess.web.aol.com/ If you don't have 60 days and must be able to access your e-mail you can use any dial-up service (AOL, ATT, etc.) and call a number in the USA. It will cost more than calling a local number but you will stay connected almost anywhere there is phone service. Don't forget to take a telephone jack adapter set for Europe (check Best Buy, CompUSA, etc.). You may also be able to call a dial-up Internet provider via your cell phone (connected to a laptop). Check with your cellular provider as hardware (probably a cable) and maybe software are needed. It would also be expensive but you would stay connected anywhere there is a cellular signal for your phone. |
