Which credit card is more widely accepted in Italy and Greece, Visa or Mastercard? |
Travel Info Which credit card is more widely accepted in Italy and Greece, Visa or Mastercard? Travel Tips Both are widely accepted, but keep one thing in mind... Depending on what you might be buying (for example, if you're just charging some meals on your card versus if you are purchasing pricier items), some merchants will charge an extra fee for using a credit card. Again, an example.... if you buy nice leather goods or high-quality shoes or purses or something, the merchant may impose a 3 or 4% service fee, which is what they are charged by the credit card company and they will pass that charge on to you. If you can get cash for your purchases (via ATM machines or if you have traveler's checks or something), you will likely get a better final price on your purchases. This may not always be the case, but it is a possibility. So ask the merchant if you will get a better price if you pay in cash and, if you need to, have them hold the item while you go get the cash and then return to buy what you want. Others Mastercard, but they are both accepted pretty much everywhere in Europe. I never had a problem using my Visa during 3 weeks in Italy... As both countries are "touristy" places, they wud accept both credit cards, u wudnt have a problem there.Hope that helps.Cheers! :) |
