Backpacking through Europe for a month.?

Travel Info
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a trip I am planning.

A few things:
I am a 21 year old American and I will have a month break from my studies in the summer and want to do another back packing trip through Europe. The last time I went I was with a few of my friends and, well, progress was hindered. Anyways, I will be coming from Cairo, Egypt so use that origin when you answer this question. I also want to make my turn-around spot London, England. As I said, I am 21 so I am looking for places that have a friendly atmosphere, a good night life, and sight seeing.

So, where should I go? I plan on staying in hostels and probably will need to fly from Egypt to somewhere to start off. I also want to hit as many countries as possible (with about 2 days in each and 7 in London). Here are a few countries I definitely want to visit again.

Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, England.

Oh, and I plan on getting an unlimited Eurorail pass for the month (something like $600).

Travel Tips
Forget the Eurailpass...it comes with lots of fine print and hidden expenses.

Try this: After spending 3 days in London, take a train out to France, across the Channel. Book on the Internet and for your age, there will be several special offers available. Check www.thalys.fr - their English site and you'll surely land a good deal. If not, try Ryan Air, EasyJet, Thomsonfly or other budget airlines that will bring you to Paris. They are REAL cheap, if you book in advance but remember- there are no refunds. Flying will also save you some time.

After 2 days in Paris, you can train it down to Switzerland, on Thalys. And later, by train of budget air to Germany. Try German budget carriers Niki, Air Berlin, German Wings and so on.

Suggest you visit www.whichbudget.com- a comprehensive website on budget travel, which offers links to budget airlines and cheap fares.

From Germany, you'll find ample budget flights to Hungary and from Budapest- back to London.

$600 is too stiff to pay for the Eurailpass and my personal experience with that has not been so pleasant. Despite the pass, you'll still need to reserve your seats well in advance and sometimes pay a reservation supplement fee etc. Its more hassle than flying budget carriers, which are pretty safe.
