Surf trip to Biarritz, France!!! Seeking planning advice?

Travel Info
Trying to determine the best places to surf within 100 miles north or south of Biarritz. e.g. where to stay comfortably? is it cheaper to bring a surfboard or rent one there? what is the rental board selection like? are the locals friendly? is it better to rent a car or take trains? thx..

Travel Tips
If you expect a cheap place, try to go to Lacanau ocean, it's near Bordeaux, wild, and cheap.
In Biarritz, Mimizan and Cap breton, waves are also cool, but it's more expensive to rent...

For example to rent a 8鈥?, it's 70 euros ( around 93 US $)...

Locals are not so friendly, cuz too many people in the summer time. Better to go in septembre or octobre. Few people, friendly and water around 20....

To check waves, and different stuff try this cool website... It's french...

Other Travel Tips
wannasurf is a really good website to check out before any surf trip, especially international ones. Here's some info I got about france. The link is below for more detailed stuff.

Biarritz is in Basque Country. Here's what one person said on the website...

"I spent 3 really good days here, waves were great and it wasn't too crowded. Locals here are really friendly!!!! Great for relaxed, soul surfing."

I think in most of Europe you don't really need a car. The train can get you around almost anywhere you go.

I think it would definitely be more cost effective to just rent a board when you get there. I've heard Biarritz has a lot of local surf shops and places to rent boards. Paying to fly with a board overseas is expensive. And then you have to worry about traveling around the country with a surfboard. Whether you're getting a car, riding the train, or hitch hiking, you're much better off without a surfboard while traveling.

Sounds like a great trip! Have Fun!!!
