German song Lili Marlene?

Travel Tips
Lili Marlene was a song, wich was performed in germany by an artist called Lale Andersen in the time of WW II. It is said, that the troups of all nations stopped their fighting while this song was played on the radio. I think, that is a legend.
In the 80s of the last century the german film artist Rainer Werner Fassbinder turned a film about the artist Lale Andersen. I saw it, it was quiet an impressing movie. Source(s): I麓m german.

What exactly is your question?

I know there is a song by this name. Marlene Dietrich recorded a version.
Strangely, the song became popular with both sides during WWII, and with other nations. Here is the story:

And here are the words in both German and English:

I used to cherish an old 78 rpm record with Lale Andersen singing the song - if anybody at all remembers those! - from my father's collection that he found in a boot sale. On the other side is a song called "Drei Rote Rosen". Unfortunately this treasure has been lost.
You can find free German and English version on the Internet with Google.
