Germany: Any Advice? |
Travel Info I be going to Germany for 6 months on job training. Any advice on where to visit and shop? Will Staying in Burghausen Travel Tips That's cool that you can visit Bavaria. It's absolutely gorgeous down there. I'm from Berlin and if I would ever move back to Germany I would definately live down there somewhere. Bavarians are generally much friendlier than the Northerners (I don't know if I spelled that right) When ever people think of Germans they imagine Lederhosen and a botttle of beer. This stereoptype is actually only true of Bavarians. They are the ones who keep up with the traditions (running around in Lederhosen on special celebrations/parades/festivals... and they are the ones who consume the most beer. So you will be at the right place of stereoptypical Germany. There is a lot to see. You should definately take a trip to Schloss Neuwschwanstein. You will notice that it looks similar to the Walt Disney castle. Well, you are right, because the Walt Disney castle was modeled after this marvelous beauty which was built by the insane king King Ludwig II. Admission is very expensive though, but I think it's worth it. And the view is wonderful. There are a lot of tourists in that area. I found this site though which says that the Burghausen castle is even better than Neuschwanstein. Well, looking at the picture I'd say Ludwig's looks much nicer. But you never know what's beyond these walls. Like I said, Bavaria is very beautiful, the people are much more pleasant (Germans in general are not very friendly) and very hospitable. (My experience) My big advice: Bring a camera. Other than that, enjoy the food and the scenery. Have fun. Source(s): http://www.roadstoruins.com/burghausen.h... Other Travel Tips if you're still there in late september head on down to munich for oktoberfest. you can find interesting things almost anywhere though. You will be able to celebrate Octoberfest anywhere...it's in Sept. not October. Live up the small town atmosphere and people. Berlin and the Baltic sea are great places to see if you get the chance. Also, you may be close to the border, so don't forget about seeing another country as well if time permits. Have fun, and Prost (you'll get it well you are there) I am half German All you have to know, in the peculiarity of the German language, is that ein helles is singular and is just one beer not more than one..Looks plural, but isn't....Good Luck.. Cologne is the best city in Germany. It is a party town, shopper's paradise, tourist attractions, etc. Cologne has everything. |
