Travel Tips there are many units still left in germany, mostly combat units and some small support units, the combat units are mostly from schweinfurt and wiesbaden area Others Pirmasens was affected by the drawdown of our forces in Europe during the late 90s. I believe all of the facilities in the area are gone now, except maybe for a forward deployed equipment depot. The old Kaserne is a business park now, I've heard. I believe of all the Army posts in Germany, only Kaiserslautern is still at full strength. The latest community to be closed is Kelley Barracks in Darmstadt, which was the last Airborne unit in Europe. Times are changing... |
