Which German City is closest to the Baltic Sea?

Travel Tips
Hello,

Rostock is directly on the Baltic sea and there is a harbour there. That is the nearest. Otherwise visit Stralsund - I have lived there! Source(s): In Germany

Other Travel Tips
I believe Kiel is the largest city near the Baltic Sea.
Lubeck is not far from the Baltic, nor is Hamburg.

Some towns/smaller cities on the Baltic appear to be (from East to West):
Greifswald
Binz
Sassnitz
Straslund
Barth
Warnemunde
Wismar
Puttgarden
Luebeck and Rostock (former Hanse members) both have a Baltic Sea harbour.
If you want to have a city close to the Baltic Sea, try to plan your vacations on "R眉gen"-island.

It is in the Baltic Sea and connected to the main land with a bridge. There are a lot of nice cities an villages there.

I also recommend:
- Greifswald
- Stralsund
- Anklam
- Boltenhagen
- L眉beck
- Kiel
German and used to go to the Baltic Sea a lot
If you're asking because you're planning a vacation, I'd recommend Warnem眉nde. It's beautiful, not too expensive if you don't want anything fancy and it's also a good base camp if you want to go on trips and explore the region.
