If an employed irish citizen?

Travel Info
is not coverd by private health insurance or general medical services, and when she/he needs a big surgery done, do they have to pay hospital stays, treatments as well as medications out of pocket?

If they don't have enough money does it mean they are pretty much screwed up?

Aren't the employers required by the state law to contribute to employee's private health insurance, regardless big or small business?

Travel Tips
emplyees only contribute in group health schemes, there is no law to say they have to pay anything at all to private health insurance.

You can get ops on public health but there would be a waiting list unless its a serious op then it should be done straight away. Also be aware that even if you have privae insurance it wont cover the whole cost and a patiennt would still have to pay oa portion of the bill depending on which private plan they are on
