Travel Tips Lifford, was the oul first town, although not the biggest anymore still the same Others The county town is Lifford and Letterskenny is the biggest! http://www.donegal.ie/ I would say that Donegal town is the main town in Co Donegal. Letterkenny is growing and now maybe is better for night life. I dont know the history, but Lifford is small compared to these two. Live in Ireland Lifford is the county seat, while Donegal town was once the largest, it has since been surpassed by Letterkenny which is touted to be the fastest growing town in Europe.
