Travel Info I am heading to ireland soon on vacation any ideas on things to do? Travel Tips Well, to be honest in terms of things "you have to see" there really isn't much in the way of interesting buildings or statues or anything like that, as you would find in most other big cities (assuming your going to Dublin). However, what it does have though, is a really good atmosphere and nightlife. The best area for a night out is Temple Bar. People are really friendly and welcoming, but, be warned, its not just a stereotype, we really do drink ALOT! In terms of shopping, Henry Street and Grafton Street is where most people shop (Grafton Street is generally more expensive). Eating out is really expensive, but Malahide village (just a few miles from the city centre) has alot of nice, not too expensive places. As for places to go during the day: Dublin Zoo is really nice, as is Phoenix Park (where the President lives). You can also view the Book of Kells in Trinity College. Really though, I don't think you should go to Ireland to visit museums and things- you should go for the atmosphere, and the nightlife! Others site seeing, pub, socceer kiss the blarney stone and drink Guinness until you find the leprechaun. I personally would not kiss the Blarney Stone. I just wonder what tricks the young Irish boys would play on unsuspecting foreigners. :-). Seriously, I am an American and have been living in Ireland for several months. If you are going to Dublin, I really enjoyed a guided tour of Wicklow. It is south of Dublin and is beautiful country, historic (i.e. St. Kevin's Church) and they gave us all a shot of Jameson Whiskey after the walk. If you venture South, I would highly recommend the Dingle Penisula. The 33 km road winds around the cliffs and the view is breathtaking. Next door to this is the Ring of Kerry. Personnaly I preferred Dingle to the Ring of Kerry but to each his own. If you venture North, don't miss the Giants Causeway. I haven't been there yet but a friend of mine who is from Dublin says it is the one place in Ireland not to miss. Have a good trip. go to the cliffs of moher, go to the pubs if ur goin in the summer go to the carnivals they have sum good ones. |
