Do American's think that Ireland is in the UK?

Travel Info
Because it's not. Irish people are Irish, not British. The republic of Ireland is an independent free state. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, but the republic of Ireland is not. Just to clear up any confusion there might have been.

up the RA.
Thank goodness you cleared that up!

I was getting worried no one knew.
I'm not really familiar with the ins and outs of Europe but I made no correlation between Ireland and UK. Apparently I was partially wrong because I didn't know that Northern Ireland was part of the UK. I was under those impressions because I believe there used to be a bit of hostility between UK and Ireland for reasons I don't know.
really? wow I didn't know that.
good for you
Why did you ask a question and then answer it yourself?
