Travel Tips
Your best bet is to drive to belfast from Newtownards then from there head towards Carrick its about 10 mile four of which is motorway but it is costal.Continue driving through Carrickfergus onto Larne and through Larne think its signposted Cushendall/cushendun.That takes you onto the North Antrim costal route and one of the best drives in europe.I think Portrush is signposted from Cushendall.Make sure you drive across the bridge in cushendall though.ie through the town then turn left.Good luck with the journey.

You are in for a long journey my good man, I am from Bangor but live on the mainland now. I havn't been to Portrush in years, oh the memories!
Hello,
not many people do like motorways, but at slack times they will get you from Newtownards to Portrush a whole lot faster than the alternative routes. you would have to travel a long way on almost a dozen different roads, try the motorway, and save time and fuel, you might even come to like it after a while. Good Luck Now. Tony M
