Places to Stay In Irelannd? |
Travel Info I'm traveling to Ireland in August and wanted to know if anyone had suggestions on places to stay. I'm renting a car and will be traveling all over the country. I've been told that staying in B & B's offers the greatest chance to meet the locals and experience the kindness and friendship of Ireland, but there are tons of them! I would also like to stay one night in a castle, so if anyone has suggestions, please let me know. Travel Tips hotels Others I took a tour of Ireland and stayed at the Burlington Hotel - Dublin, Killarney Avenue Hotel - Killarney, Co. Kerry, Bunratty Castle Hotel - Bunratty, Co Clare, all were very nice, I'm sure how much they cost. I also stayed at the Blooms Hotel in Dublin's Temple Bar area, it's pretty cheap, less than 100 euros a night. All these hotels have the full irish breakfast too. We stayed in three fabulous B&Bs: In Western Ireland (Doolin, Co. Clare): Horseshoe House, Josephine Moloney, proprietress In North Central Ireland (Killeshandra, Co. Cavan): Glencloy House, Donald and Ethel Woodhouse, proprietors -- the loveliest, kindest, most wonderful couple in all Ireland. He chats serving the guests at breakfast while she tut-tuts at him from the kitchen. Delightful. In Northeastern Ireland (Carlingford, Co. Louth): Barnavave House, Martin McCardle, proprietor. Now famous in my family for his quote (in response to, how's the weather there today), "Well, the lough(bay)'s bubblin' up in the yard just a wee bit." We never did stay in a castle, but goodness knows there are endless websites dedicated to such things. Enjoy. And be sure you get a small car.
