Pay rate in Ireland?

How much money in Irish dollars is a good amount to make to live comfortably and be able to travel on the weekends to local areas?

Travel Tips
Hello Kelly,
First of all, you have to know that Ireland is one of the most expemsive countries in Europe to live and work, almost everyone is only earning the national minimum wage of 8.30 euro's an hour, and you will be expected to really work all your bits off for that kind of money.
It was this problem that forced my Family to leave Ireland and go to England to live and work, and just return home to visit all those of my Family that chose to put up with the conditions there. Oh don't think it makes me love my country less for what happened to our Family, at least in England we now own the houses we live in and the cars in the driveways, and all the goods contained in the houses, inour own way, it's just us getting our own back on England for what they did to my country for over 800 years, of theiving from us, murdering us and chucking us out of our poor houses, just because we couldn't pay the exorbitant taxes of the day, so my Father and Mother brought us to England to help the English rebuild their country after the Germans had a 6 years go at it trying to blow it off the planet, well the germans couldn't manage it but the English gave us Irish folk, work and decent rates of pay as well as housing so we would help them to put their country back together again, Yes they actually paid us well, to rebuild the place.. There's a kind of poetic justice there isn't there?
Now as for your Question, you would do well to have a profession, with diplomas to your name to enjoy a comfortable living standard in Ireland today.. Housing, food and all the ancilliary bills are outrageously high in price. The monetary unit is Euro's short for Euro-Dollar, and is worth approx 62 english pence for one Euro, now if you consider that you will need about 400 Euro's to rent a single room for a month, you are going to need to earn in the region of 2000 Euro's, a month, to have a near basic existence, equating to approx 500 Euro's a week. which calculates to 7.50 an hour, so not a lot left for your jollies... I really and honestly do wish you a whole load of Good Luck, in your endeavour ro make it BIG in Ireland...
One more point for you to ponder, a lot of Irish people that moved to England in the 1940's and 1950's actually bought their own houses for less than a 拢1000.oo and the values of these properties now is out of this world, that 拢1000, house in the London area now would expect to realise in the region of 2 to 3,00,000 pounds, and I am certainly not joking, and the closer the house is to london the closer the price is to a million pounds, makes you think Huh? wherever you decide to live, HAGGLE over the cost, and ask the Boss every day for a raise, as you can tell him/her you ARE REALLY worth it.. Bye Tony M...

depends for me about 70,000 euros a year!!!
Kelly Ireland uses the Euros so dollars are worth **** all here, but it is an expensive place to stay, feel like I won the lottery when I go home to Scotland and see the prices in the shops.
I think before you plan to come to Ireland you should do your research...as others have pointed out, the Irish use euros. The minimum wage is about 8.50 or so I think, but to live comfortably you'll need a fair bit more depending on where you're going. Dublin is expensive, rent approx 400 euros a month for a single room. That plus bills, travel, food etc...
I live in Dublin
MINIMUM WAGE IS CURRENTLY 鈧?.30 PER HOUR BEFORE TAX. TO BE INCREASED TO 鈧?.65 PER HOUR BEFORE TAX IN JULY.

depending on what you class as living comfortably, what part of ireland you are coming to and how you plan to travel, approximately you would need to be earning 鈧?00 per week outside dublin/cities in general

AND IRELAND USES EUROS, NOT DOLLARS

and this is for one person, not a family
The word is Euro, its not a word that can be made into a plural, and to earn a good living you'd need to earn at least 鈧?6,000 pa minimum!! That works out at approx $33k USD.

It is an expensive place to live, but then again, it depends on your outgoings!!
