Are teenagers allowed in Irish Pubs?

Travel Info
We will be traveling to Ireland in August with our 16 year old son and are wondering if he will be allowed to enter pubs with us at night.

Travel Tips
it really depends where you are and what kind of place it is
if you are in a hotel pub, then the kids can stay as long as they want really
if you are in the city where things are much more rigorously enforced ...ALL children under 18 years old must be off the premises by 7pm
there are lots of pubs that serve food or which are pub/restaurants which are more relaxed, but usually when they stop serving food, they ask you to get moving if you have kids with you
but your son is 16 so you might be okay if he looks around the legal age (18) but make sure he is not drinking too, or you will all be asked to leave...but they usually look the other way once he is quiet and not too conspicuous..
just ask the barman in the pub if it's okay and they will more often than not tell you to keep him out of the way and you'll be fine..hope this helped and hope you all enjoy your stay here
Others
Yes. THe drinking age is 18, however in the touristy areas they never check I.D. so he'll probably be allowed to drink as well. Even so, he'll be allowed in without a hassel.
Yes, but make sure he gets the first round
Up until 8pm, then he would have to leave. Anyone under the age 18 cannot be on a licensed premises after 8pm. Also, during the day they must be accompanied by and adult.
Family owns a pub.
the law is that anyone under the age of 18 is allowed in a pub until 8pm(accompanied by an adult) but from my experience very very very few places(if any) stick by this, I doubt very much that he wont be allowed enter a pub especially if he is with his parents
Yes, even though the "law" requires him to leave by 9pm No-one enforces it. However they do check I.D's so no drinking, he's only 16. I'm sure ye will all enjoy the crack (fun) & have a great time.
