Travel Info The Mayan ruins, in Mexico, or in Guatemala? Travel Tips Both, I've been to Chitzinitza near Cancun where there is the pyramid and alot of Mayan ruins Others Guatemala, the aztecs were in what is now mexico Mayans lived long before any countries existed. They lived both in the southern portion of Mexico as well as what is now Guatemala. Also in Honduras and Costa Rica (I think). Actually, they are in both, there are some in Mexico on the Gulf coast near play de carmen. I went to Chicenica pyramid in Mexico,but I think they are all over south america. Well, the Mayan occupated both the southern regions of Mexico as well as Guatemala. Although, personally, having been to two ruin sites, the ones in Guatemala are way better, esp the "main headquarters", TIKAL.
