Can anyone recommend a trip to the Amazon?

Travel Info
Ideally I would like to take a trip which was part land, part boat.

Travel Tips
To get to the Amazon you have several choices and several countries to start from. Peru, Brazil or Colombia.

Most people get a little sick of sitting on a boat for more than 3 or 4 days with a million mosquitos, so a trip downriver from Leticia in Colombia to Iquitos in Peru is probably your best bet. (You can cross into Brazil at one point if you wish without passport control) When you arrive in Iquitos you can do jungle trips as it's well developed for eco tourism.

There are relatively cheap flights from the US to Bogot谩 (usually via Panama) and cheap flights within Colombia to Leticia. From Iquitos fly to Cuzco, a great party town full of history and take a look at Machu Picchu, a once in a lifetime experience.

P.S Don't worry about saftefy in Colombia, trust me, I live here, it's perfectly safe. Source(s): 3 years travelling in SA and I year living in Colombia
